Can it be used to sell items?
Yes. There is a question type for Products. Allowing you to configure some options and add images.
Can it be used to take donations?
Yes. You can add a Price question type and add value to it, or allow the user to input a value.
What about registering for an event?
Sure. You can collect information about registrants and add products or prices for fees. You can even connect the form to an external Google Sheet to produce a guest list.
